Master Bathroom – Annandale, VA

The Customer wanted a luxurious bathroom in their Annandale, VA home, to serve as a retreat from the stresses of their very successful government contracting business. The home had a contemporary decor with a balanced mix of traditional elements, and we strove for consistency with that style in the master bathroom. The existing layout already featured double door entrance into the bath with a full view of the jetted bathtub, sitting underneath a window and framed by columns. We decided to give more justice to the space by changing the doors to frosted glass and creating a recessed ceiling above the tub with recessed lights and space for a chandelier in the middle. On either side of the tub we created custom built in cabinetry, featuring a built-in ironing board, refrigerator and a safe. The existing bath was large but with a dwarfed shower, so we expanded the bath into the master closets and created a 25 sq ft custom shower with Kohler DTV digital system, 12 jets, ceiling showerhead and integrated sound system. The heated floor for the bathroom extends into the shower. The crowning achievement of the bathroom is its modern Victorian look, with classic crema marfil marble expertly coupled with a waterfall glass mosaic that borders the entire room at wainscoting height, serving as a backsplash for the and hers vanities, integrated into the wall mounted faucets. The espresso-colored, modern bamboo cabinets mix effortlessly with the classic columns in the room, balanced by the transitional yet exuberant sister chandeliers framing the entrance and tub.
